The idea for Doggie Impressions arose soon after I painted my beloved American Eski dog, Shelly. Shellys cousin, Maggie, a Basset Hound was next. Then came Bud, an English Bulldog. Having a lot of fun and making these doggie owners happy inspired me to turn this new-found hobby and love into a service I could offer other dog lovers. Doggie Impressions was born. A graduate of NC State's College of Design, I was a graphic designer for more than 25 years. Now as a painter of doggie portraits and also landscapes www.nancyhughesmiller.com , I find creative expression, while celebrating through art the beauty of the world as well as its most endearing creatures. As I apply the oil paints with brush and palette knife, the doggie spirit slowly emerges from the canvas. The finished portraits are impressions of the subjects' personalities. In a loose and fun way, I strive to capture each doggie's distinctive markings plus the quirky and wonderful nature of their inner doggie selves. I have painted more than 30 custom pet portraits as commissions, gifts and annual contributions to non-profit organizations, charities and causes. Silent auction proceeds from the donated paintings have benefited the Wake County SPCA, Prevent Child Abuse NC, NC States JC Raulston Arboretum, Forest Education & Conservation Foundation, Educational Gallery Group of Palm Beach, The Muscular Dystrophy Association, Sound Pet Animal Rescue & Referral (SPARR) and Durham's Independent Animal Rescue (IAR). Doggie Impression portraits are painted from your photographs, either digital files or prints. To achieve the best results, I need images that are medium to high resolution, in focus and up-close with facial detail. A series is helpful, showing your doggie in various poses. For more details, see the Order Page and take a look at the Before and After page. But enough said providing a lasting and cherished portrait of a family loved one is really what Doggie Impressions is all about. woof,
